Conference Center Policies
Rental of the Veterans Conference Center is subject to the terms and conditions in your rental agreement and the following policies:
Emergency Shelter Priority
The Conference Center is a dual use facility and also serves as the Walker County Storm Shelter when required. If the Emergency Coordinator for Walker County activates the Walker County Storm Shelter for an actual or impending emergency, you will be notified as soon as practicable and your reservation will be canceled and all payments returned. We will do our best to reschedule or help secure another location if you desire.
Use of Copyrighted Music at Your Event
If any copyrighted music is to be played at your event, you as the sponsor or promoter are responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses from the copyright owner or licensing agency representing them. The Veterans Convention Center does not provide music licensing as part of it services. The licensing requirements include live as well as recorded music (records, tapes, compact discs, radio broadcasts, etc.) and also include music whether it is the focus of the presentation or is used only as background on videotapes or other presentations.
The two main licensing music agencies are ASCAP or BMI, and you may need a license from either or both depending upon the composition. They may be contacted as follows:

Smoking
The Conference Center is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is prohibited in this facility - no exceptions.
Alcohol
The Conference Center does not have a liquor license, but we can provide forms and information to permit you to obtain a temporary liquor license. For any activity where alcoholic beverages are to be consumed, a State Certified Peace Officer scheduled by the Conference Center is required to be on duty for the entire event, and liquor fee is charged.
